Parnassius name

I purchased some parnassius in a job lot , they have a name whitten on them can you tell me what it says and were they were likely caught.

The writing says vinningensis. I hope the seller gave you the permits for this CITES II and EU protected species. If not, you should ask for them.

This subspecies is restricted to a small area of Germany.

These were caught early 80s, so were they protected then.
The sell no's nothing about them by what price they were (around £1 each)
I also got about 15 Parnassius citrinarius from Japan are these protected as well.

Yes, they were protected before the early 80s, the species was included in CITES appendix II from 1 July 1975.
