Are there any Mantidae specialists over there?

Request help to identify insects or other creatures. Please post the location that the insect you want to identify came from, this will help greatly in species determination.

Are there any Mantidae specialists over there?

Post by lamprima2 »

This ootheca was found in Carlsbad, San Diego, S. California. It is only 21 mm long
(about twice less than an ootheca of M. religiosa). It should belong to a relatively small species.
Does anyone know which species this might be? From my childhood experience, I know
how difficult it is to feed tiny nymphae in captivity, so I do not have much hope to raise them.
