My roommate went to Joshua tree and thought it a genius idea to catch a striped tail scorpion and bring it home. Now she wants to kill it with rubbing alcohol and preserve it because she doesn’t want to spend money on it and rather have it as ‘memorabilia’
If you’re in the SoCal area (SFV) hmu. She wants it dead by this week so… help?

Re: Striped tail scorpion
The easiest way to kill the scorpion without any risk would be to put it (in its container) into the freezer compartment of your fridge for a few days.
After that time, take out the box and leave it to equalise the temperature for 12-24 hours before opening (so condensation does not form on the scorpion) and then you can dry the scorpion out to preserve it, or alternatively put it in a bottle of alcohol for permanent storage after it has been frozen. Trying to put a live scorpion in a bottle of alcohol could be dangerous.
