Lycaena phlaeas

The two butterflies in the photo were collected in Sierra de Cazorla, Jaén, Spain in August 1992,they are from the form L.phlaeas nigrioreleus.

That is indeed a very dark subspecies of this copper. Is this a localized species (where found) ?

I suppose if you had a series you probably would have shown it so, I have to presume it's a tough little item to run across in Spain.

I am familiar with the species as I have seen both European and British examples but, none were quite like this one !
