Unknown bugs in the currant bushes

Post by gry »

Image
These two pictures are of the same bug. Its actual size is less than a centimeter (maybe 1/2 to 3/4 cm)There have been quite a few of them in my currant bushes, although they don't seem to be doing any harm. These photos were taken in Green Bay, WI yesterday. Any idea what it is?

It's a weevil beetle of the subfamily Entiminae (Broad-nosed Weevils) -

Probably Calomycterus setarius, an introduced, parthenogenetic species.
