There is no "Jason Littler" in InsectNet, no "CEO", I am the only owner.
So of course don't answer these emails. I have no idea how they got my friends' email, I have no idea if they contacted other members too.

Is your friend an Insectnet member? It is possible the spammer just lifted the name 'InsectNet' (with a large N!) off the internet.
I have not received anything, and if other members haven't then I think the membership data has not been compromised.
