Common names in Classifieds

Am I just in need of something else to think about or is anyone else disappointed in the use of non-Latin names being used in the classified ads.
I just had to look up a "common" name. I don't like it.
I suppose there's no way for an algorithm to prevent this. People- look, it's not what we do, it's a bad look for you as a seller, that's about all I have,
and I look forward to never seeing a non-Latin name used to describe a species which I am certain has a Latin name, and has that name for a reason.
I am wasting my time aren't I? More people should read the Forum.

I decided to change the subject from 'nomenclature and Latin' to 'Common names in Classifieds' in order to point out the issue, which I totally agree with Kevin on.

I guess you are using the "Live insect" category. A lot of moth breeders are not entomologists/collectors and mainly use common names only. I agree with you latin names are more useful (especially for us foreigners...).

An algorithm plugged on IA could easily automatically add the latin names but it would take time to develop it. I will think about it.

And here I thought I was all alone in suffering such ignorance. It’s like dealing with the bird watching butterfly types- “which checkerspot is that?” Beats me, I only know the Latin name.

I hate when peolple doesn´t use the latin names when they write about Lepidoptera for example and now I think that is because they don´t have learnt the latin names cause they think it´s harder.

You know, it's also interesting that in one point of view, my comment about using the proper name could be considered a little whiny.
Allow me to elaborate- First, let's decide I am not familiar with the species or genus. I'm probably still going to have to look up the name, whatever
it's being called.
But the complaint stands! Use the agreed on Latin, which changes often enough. I just found out that Calosaturnia is the new name for the
formerly Saturnia mendicino, and I'll assume the other Pacific coast "Saturnias".

It can get also confusing when speaking about plants as well, which is something else we want to be certain of.
