Re: Possible Scammer - Amy Carryington/Nelson Mhongo
I am learning very quickly and saw all the massive red flags.
There are more flags, but sometimes I wonder if posting them is undermining our efforts. The simplest thing is that the scammers are usually out of their element. I do want to clear up a comment I made about using peat moss- spaghnum ...

This just gets better and better.
Yes, those are Argema mimosa cocoons depicted.

Hyalophora hybrid larva
These are euryalus x cecropia larva, they've been feeding outside since May 25.
Now I wish I had the respective animals to compare, these seem to look more bluish than pure euryalus,
it'll be interesting to see how they develop, it just occurred to me to take pictures today..

I think I was instrumental in his being banned from InsectNet, he must be operating from some other platform or persona.

Male Stag Beetle jaws and spreading
I have a recently expired Lucanus elephus male, what I am having, or am going to have an issue with is spreading the jaws, when he was alive, he'd stand and his jaws would be spread far apart, you could've put your thumb in there, but now, the jaws are more or less closed, and I am having a ...

Funny, how some insects shown in common insect guides turn out to be so infrequently encountered in life...
Exactly.
So many cool bugs I looked at pictures of, and probably won't see alive, I just found my first waterscorpion in 2022, and a person might think Mole crickets are everywhere. Maybe ...

Negha inflata
I haven't seen one of these for quite some time, so long in fact, that this one is going into a glass case.
Apparently in the USA, only found in the "western" states. The common name for this is "snake fly"
If I hadn't been worried about losing it, I'd have tried for a better picture.

That was weird. I kind of expected this a long time ago. Apparently there is some issue the rest of us, or at least I am unaware of.
Vernon made at least one post after the November scolding, which was nice of him to make,I guess it didn't last.

Re: Insect glue
Fixing a botched antennae sounds stressfull.
At least for "super glues" I use a material from Amazon called Super Solvent, it will make short work of any cyanoacrylate glues.
it's an alcohol/nitroalkanes based solvent, whatever that means.

Re: Help with identifying small insects/bugs
Hard to tell. Maybe a beetle, looks like wings not completely folded on the end of the abdomen. You might need more pictures, although someone may know exaclty what it is.
Any beetles would probably be food pests, and not specifically dangerous, but you might not want to eat them.

Thank you all, those are all factors, some of which I hadn't thought of.

refrigeration of adult lepidoptera and lifespan
Does anyone have an opinion about refrigerating an adult moth in order to increase it's lifespan and have a greater chance to mate?
The issue I am wondering is can this effect fertilility. One of last year's buyers told me they were refrigerating adults while waiting for another of the opposite sex ...

Maybe, I've never understood vandalism. I wish I was that easliy amused.I accidently killed a squirrel last night and I still feel guilty..he was in the flower bed, I don't know if a death sentence was appropriate, but it's too late now.

Good grief. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. If there is something we as members can do to defeat this inexplicable and seemingly unjustified attack , I'm listening. I don't read russian for one thing, and I doubt many or any others do.
