This days in Spain the journalists had discover a very dangerous invader,Agrius convolvuli is migrating in big numbers in some parts of the country and they are making people get scared of moths.

The value was very low and I´m still waiting for the spanish customsto send me the parcel,for example for China I only pay around 7 euros with no other problems.

Last tuesday I paid more than 53 euros in tariff for a parcel of butterflies from Russia to Spain,even if you receive them from other countries outside the EU you have to pay,even if they come as a gift.

I hate when peolple doesn´t use the latin names when they write about Lepidoptera for example and now I think that is because they don´t have learnt the latin names cause they think it´s harder.

I don´t have problems when I make an exchange or If I buy butterflies,the thing is that when I receive a parcel from outside the EU I have to pay taxes even if the butterflies come with no commercial value.

Also I have to say that I have not problems to send or to receive lepidoptera from Russia .

One thing that I have is that talking about myself is that so many collectors doesn't want to receive Lycaenidae and Hesperiidae in the exchange when they are the butterflies that I use to collect more frecuently than the others,I suppose that it's a matter of size and people doesn't want to spread ...

The two butterflies in the photo were collected in Sierra de Cazorla, Jaén, Spain in August 1992,they are from the form L.phlaeas nigrioreleus.

Year by year is getting harder to collect in Spain, not only due to weather conditions, there are places where is imposible to get a permit for collecting ,I'm lucky that in my work place I can see mediterranean butterflies as Charaxes jasius, Iolana debilitata or now flying Hipparchia fidia

Now you have to pay for everything that comes from outside the EU, even if it comes as gift that It supposes that doesn't have a commercial value.


Ask your seller to put a €10 value. The Vat will be 2 euros and most of the time they don't bother claiming it.

I have to say that I have made trades with peopke from Facebook and I hadn't have any kind of problems with them,I can say that I have even repeated the transactions and the only hazard is the post service.

Those from Huesca and Burgos are Polyommatus dolus ssp. Ainsae.
From Teruel you have Polyommatus fabressei.
The two Pseudophilotes are panoptes.
The one from Granada I think that is Lysandra dorylas
