I have two males & sadly no female. One perfect but badly set(not by me) & another with chips. Both are fifty years old. Given their age & rarity I am not tempted to reset. Perhaps the most brilliant of all the Pieridae.

I also have 2 male specimens of P. avellaneda
which I purchased years apart. My contact for
these was a good friend of Miguel Serano who
managed to procure a few examples (here and
there) through his brother.

I "landed" my 1st male a month (after) Miguel had
acquired it in July 2007. My second example would
not arrive for another 10 years (July. 2017). However,
I got that one just 2 weeks after Miguel acquired it.

In all those years between no females came available
or perhaps (never made it to my contact) via Miguel. I
was very fortunate to receive steller examples of both
males. However, pickings like this exclusive species don't
come cheap here.

Pictured here is my 2nd acquisition (July 2017) at a cost
of $200 USD.

That's a really beautiful specimen Trehopr. A Canadian friend has it that this species goes redder with age when set/spread. My old specimens are certainly very red. They both came from Worldwide Butterflies here in the U.K. I paid £80 for the perfect one & £50 for the chipped one back in the 90s.

Recently acquired pair. Got the male about a month ago & the female arrived today. One of those jaw dropping moments when I saw inside the box. Have been waiting for a female for a very long time. Patience truly a virtue in this hobby.
