I've noticed with several of the recent threads, the addition of the letters "ns" to th end of the group name, e.g. Orthoptera"ns". I've never seen this before, where did it come from?

The rainbow grasshopper (Dactylotum bicolor); I've seen these in southern Arizona a couple of times -

I saw one of these on my latest trip to AZ as well; a Chihuahua toad hopper (Phrynotettix tshivavensis) -

I used to dry these with a freeze dryer to preserve the colors! Gorgeous little grasshoppers! Also dried the “toad” hoppers this way, among others!

Bug Eyed Katydid vs. Candy Cane Katydid... another interesting video showing the deadly predatory habits of 2 spp. of carnivorous katydids viciously attacking one another.... who wins?
