Rothschildia

This thread is dedicated to livingplanet3 who happened
to mention his particular fondness of this genus. I've
always liked it myself as the proportionately sizable
windows and variable wing (designs) are pleasing in
general to the eye. Colors vary in the amounts and
intensity of pinks/tans/browns.

I'm posting here my 1st photo (example) of this wonderful
genus. I'll have to re-examine the data label but, if memory
serves this is: Rothschildia orizaba.

There was (I believe) a British member (colin 12303) who
posted some wonderful photo's of his Rothchildia holdings
on our old insectnet forum. Perhaps, if he reads this or is
still a member he could once again take part here.

I have maybe got only another 4 of this genus to show but,
I keep looking for them !

Here's a drawer containing some R. lebeau forbesi from S. TX (possibly also R. cincta from AZ, not sure). Nice genus.

Love the window "dimensions" on R. jacobaeae. What a splendid species indeed.

I think I have a specimen of that one and if I do I'll get a picture of it.

I don't have a lot of them but here's what I have pinned. Certainly a beautiful Genus.

Here is another species of mine.
The I.D. on it says Rothschildia hesperus.

I like this one for the pink color at the apex of'the forewings
as well as for the bi-dimentional windows; triangular in the
forewings and circular in the hindwings !
