Re: Arhopala
The amazing images just keep on coming! These butterflies are far more brilliant than any jewel ever dug from the earth!
Re: Arhopala
Beautiful specimens, and beautiful images. A favoroite genus of mine. And if there's any butterfly genus that needs revision, it's Arhopala!
Does anyone know whether someone is working on Arhopala systematics using modern methodology?

Arhopala aida aida-female
Sometimes when the time is limited at certain location there is only one chance to collect the species even if the specimen is not in perfect shape.
Interestingly Arhopala is one of the genus that is easier to catch females than males.

Re: Arhopala
That's cool Paul.
I know what it's like to catch what you have available when you are in a rainforest because you might never see it again ! And then of course, sometimes certain things are just damn difficult to catch anyway.
The only Morpho specimen that I was "personally" able to collect on my Bolivia trip happens to look much like your specimen there. I ran like hell trying to catch them and I didn't have anything blue to lure them.
The only way I was able to get a nice (pair) of them was through the kindness of two separate fellow collectors who took pity on me for not having any midway through the trip.
