A weird mosquito?

Hi guys last time u lot were so helpfull can you help me with this one as well? Found it on my fence scared the pants o me

Yes, the giant death mosquito- actually it's a crane fly, a harmless insect, which look a lot like mosquitos, and get a lot bigger as a matter of fact.

Strange, I posted that it is a crane fly (family Tipulidae) about half an hour after the original post appeared, but my reply has been deleted.

Clearly a conspiracy within the crane fly group- looks like a "bug" you might need to track down...

Or it could have been me! This thread was hammered by the bots yesterday! It seems like every time I checked - there were 2-3 new spams attached to this one.
