Colobura dirce
Colobura dirce (the Zebra Mosaic) is a wide-ranging Neotropical nymphalid with a striking black and white pattern on the verso -

The only other species in this genus is the very similar C. annulata -

I have collected one specimen of C.dirce dirce in French Guiana and indeed this and other many species which are not interesting to collectors are only available when you go out to research yourself .

True, the number of small to medium-sized Neotropical butterflies is vast, with a lot of species being largely overlooked by many collectors. The variety of smaller South American Nymphalidae alone is quite diverse, and one could write at length about genera such as Callicore, Perisama, Paulogramma, and Diaethria.
