Hypolimnas takizawai (Flores,Indonesia)

My single specimen of this species came from an entomological show at Kettering in the U.K. in 2011.
Believe it is now known as H sumbawana takizawai.

Wow, the depth of blue in that species is remarkable !

I can only think of certain Euploea species as having a depth of color like that.

Perhaps this is a mimic of Euploea sylvester.

By the way I used to know Nobuhiro Takizawa well. He was one of the best Japanese butterfly collectors and used to travel to all the most remote places to collect rare butterflies in the 1970s and 1980s. Sadly he gave up and last I heard he was working as a security guard in Tokyo.
