Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae

Post by alandmor »

I recently completed a photo documentation project of my collection of Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae (fruit and flower chafers) worldwide. The pictures aren't great quality but the collection currently comprises over 1,150 taxa and 8,250 specimens in 48 Cornell drawers. If anyone is interested, drawer images can be viewed at the Google Photos link below. Please let me know if there are any problems with the link and thanks for looking!

That's a fantastic specialist collection !

You follow in the footsteps of another Cetoninae specialist from Vienna named Dr Eduard Knirsch. Flower beetle portion of his collection was donated in 1955 to the museum where I formally worked.

Over my 6 years there I looked over his marvelous holdings on several occasions. It was nicely curated and had been well cared for by him. I I recall having seen a number of things from the 1890s in it.

Incredible collection! Thank you very much for sharing! I was able to sit down at the home computer this evening (rather than just the cell phone) and look through the drawers. Quite an accomplishment you have there!
