Well, having taken a look at the second image all it shows is a map of the southern portion of Texas with red dots indicating where Q. gigas has been observed.

Yet, what is the point of this ? This is a worldwide audience. Nothing has been said about the species headlining your post.

I'm sorry to say this is all too vague to be of interest to anyone.

Good grief, trehopr. Gimme a break. There is some information here that somebody might be interested in. Would you prefer that I not provide any information whatsoever? That is unscientific.

The largest cicada species I've ever seen in my local area (North TX) is the Bush cicada (Megatibicen dorsatus) -

It seems I'm a bit too far north to be within the range of Quesada gigas, but I have occasionally seen a Quesadilla gigas, at restaurants.

Dave we can't access your email, so we don't really know if there is some extra information that should go with the link. Just posting a link without explanation is indeed confusing.

Thank you indeed Claude for summing up my sentiments perfectly.

My apologies Dave if you took my remarks in a bad way. I viewed your thread via my Android phone which has limited capabilities thus I only saw a Texas range map and a picture of the species --- nothing more could be accessed.

This is why it is important to provide a brief summary of any threads that are started because not everyone has the same computer and/or phone capabilities that others may have since this is a worldwide forum

I don't know much about this species of cicada, other than that they're big and very loud. Here's some more info:

I don't normally collect cicadas, but do have some specimens of Megapomponia imperatoria (Southeast Asia), just because it's the largest of the cicada species -
