Featured here is an interesting photo (and video) I took of a pair of Dryobius sexnotatus (Cerambycidae) on the trunk of a dead standing
Shagbark Hickory (Carya ovata) at my cabin property in Vinton County, Ohio June 10, 2018. The female was crawling all over the exposed wood, ovipositing in every crack and crevice she could find. The male was hanging onto guarding her as she performed her motherly duties! To my knowledge, Shagbark Hickory has not been identified as a host for this handsome and seldom collected beetle. (body size approx. 28mm)

Great find! Be sure to monitor the tree for signs of emergence.

Definite emergence holes consistent with D. sexnotatus.
