I have just learnt that Henri Descimon passed away in January.
Born in 1934, Descimon was a major French entomologist. He was famous for his works on butterfly genetics, especially on the Parnassius genus.

Some of his publications are available on Research Gate : https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Henri-Descimon

I had the pleasure to exchange several emails with him about peroneurose-desease aberrant specimens since 2018. Henri was a fountain of knowledge, always happy to share his knowledge and discuss entomology.
Repose en paix, Henri !

I spent a month collecting in Kyrgyzstan with Henri and his wife Arlette in 1999. I also bumped into them in China and we met regularly at Juvisy. They were both good company and Henri was an absolute fount of knowledge about all things Lepidoptera.

Very sad news!

A tragic loss, glad that he got to live to a ripe old age unlike a LOT of lepidopterists.
