A few days ago I thought the Brahmaea wallichi pupa I took out of the fridge must have moved on it's own, because it had rolled a bit, but
I wasn't sure. Now, the pupa rolled off the platform I put them on a second time ,and it's been writhing around slowly, also one of the
pupal segments looked extended.
I've had bare pupa before, I've never seen any move around like this one. I keep expecting to see a moth. it's been going all day, or at least as long
as when I noticed them in the morning, a good 8 hours or more. It can't think it's digging, because of the light, and it's not buried.
In case anyone recalls, I raised this species in Dec of 23 and posted larval pictures, anyway- originally I took the advice from the book and
put them in the fridge, took them out in April, and only 2 hatched out of 13, so, then in August I weighed them , several had expired, and I
put them back in the fridge, and took them back out around Nov 11.
Kind of grasping at straws but conflicting information seems to be the issue.
