I was gifted a small tupperware of Euphaedra butterflies
from a friend about a year ago. I've read that this is a
difficult genus to identify to very many species so, I am
requesting that someone help me with (possible) species
identifications on these 4 specimens.

The information written on the envelopes is shown. That
is all that I have on them. Several other envelopes had
(RCA) on them so, I am presuming most of the lot came
from there. Unfortunately, these were the only surviving
(good) specimens as all others were lost to booklice
damage.

I know nothing about these, but it seems the bottom specimen comes from Forêt du Banco, Abidjan, Ivory Coast rather than CAR/RCA - Central African Republic.

Also the label on the third specimen is just a date, Thursday 3 May 2007. Perhaps there is a location on the other side of the paper. It won't help me, but perhaps it will help someone who knows how to identify these.

Thank you very much for your assist in helping to identify these butterflies. Sorry, for the late reply but, I just noticed your posting on this matter.

I don't have much in the way of identifying African butterflies.

It would be nice to know which books are regarded as being the best (up to date) versions. Maybe I would then try to get at least one of them.

For now, at least I have something to run with on these. I suppose if someone disagrees with any of your ideas we will hear from them if they wish to be helpful.

Trehopr, I was being serious. Post the ventral surfaces and I'll do what I can to ID these.
The 3rd specimen could do with more data than just a date though. Is there something written on the back of that slip of paper?

One way to take good ventral photos is to use a blob of children's 'plasticine' clay which will hold the pin by its head.

Of course the blob must be secured to the background, as I suspect that it will not stick to foam.
