The Next Generation
The Next Generation
At least some members of the younger generation are interested in insects. My 8-year-old grandson is one of them. Here are pictures of his collection. I think it's a pretty good start to a potentially lifetime hobby, possibly even a career.

Re: The Next Generation
Was the dwarf polyphemus in the last drawer, lower right, reared?
I trust you're teaching him to label specimens, too!
Nice work,

Re: The Next Generation
Impressive! At 8 YO my collection was still in shoe boxes. Who set all those?
Re: The Next Generation
All the polyphemus were wild-caught. My grandson doesn't type very well yet, but he has made some handwritten labels that are bigger than the polyphemus moths. I make the normal-size labels for him. Hopefully he'll be able to do that soon. He catches the bugs & I mount them. I'm guessing it will be a couple of years before he can do that.
Re: The Next Generation
It's great that your grandson has such interest, and that you're there to guide him. Our kids have no interest; the few local kids I connected with that were interested soon lost interest.
