Japan April/May 2024

Post by wolf »

Hello all
Im looking into going to Japan for around 2 weeks in April/May next year. I would be interested in doing a dedicated 2-3days of collecting butterflies. I will be travelling a bit around, but be limited to the area between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka.
First, i would like to know if there is a season for butterflies in that part of Japan at that time of year?
Second, i would like to come in contact with someone who knows any good places to collect butterflies within the mentioned area?
Any information is appreciated!

Luc Manil from the French Lepidopterist Association (ALF) was there in last April/May and I know he has been happy with his entomological trip.
You can ask him some tips.
I send you his email in PM

Hi! I visited both Osaka and Kyoto and was able to do some good collecting. I’ve also been able to connect with some local collectors who aided me in finding the best places to collect.
