I had the pleasure to join Jean-Marc(lepidofrance) and two more frenchmen to French Guyana in March this year. The butterfly numbers were not that great(as mentioned before in other topics about FG), BUT i had a very nice time there. One of my favourite things to experience is to be in rainforests, and to spend 2 weeks in almost untouched amazonian rainforest is really something!

Im having a hard time to distinguish the female of Morpho marcus from Morpho eugenia, but im leaning towards this being a female of Morpho marcus based on the place and time of day i caught it. Anyway, it was definitely the highlight of the trip! :D

Very neat, I've never heard of that species. Unique.

Jean-Marc is one of the best guide to go to FG, he knows the place so well ! I discovered French Guiana thanks to him too.
I hope you had great time there.

Catching a female Morpho in FG is a real feat ! During my trip in FG with Jean-Marc in 2021, I saw only one female for about 1000 male, it was a female rhetenor I and missed it.

If you need a good book about Morpho, I highly recommend Jean-Marc & al.'s book : https://marketplace.insectnet.com/item/ ... mportement
The best book I have ever seen about this mythical genus.
