A specimen of Papilio memnon memnon ♀ from Bali. It is very interesting because of the yellow patch on its tails. Is it f. achates ?

Yes this is f. achates. The yellow scales on the tails are unusual, even present on the upperside, although rather faint. The model for this form, Losaria coon, does not occur on Bali, so I assume this form is rarer there.

Adam.

Thanks Adam ^0^. I' ve seen a P. bianor specimen (might be ssp. triumphator ?) from Yunnan with bright blue scales on the tails. Very beautiful one.

Yes, this is an aberration of ssp. triumphator. I have never seen one with so much blue on the tails.
