Ammophila procera - Digging

Post by earthling »

I was out for a short hike and happened to have my good camera when I noticed this Common Thread-waisted Wasp busily digging a burrow. This is one of the better shots out of the sequence. Another photo captured its head down in the burrow, winging beating to maintain leverage to haul another rock out of the hole. Very interesting to watch, and it paid me no attention while it went about its business.
