ID Help on this Orange and Black fellow.

Post by TG user »

These are often seen around our garden in northern Thailand and I haven't been able to ID them yet. About 2.5cm long and a serious leaf eater by the look of it - any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :-)

This is a Hemipteran bug, which has piercing and sucking mouthparts. It cannot bite or chew leaves.

According to this it seems to be Catacanthus incarnatus

You must be somewhere near me, I live in Chiang Mai.

The genus Catacanthus (the man-faced stink bugs) are surely among the most distinctive looking hemipterans in the world, with their bold colors and patterns. There are around 15 species of them, and as adamcotton mentioned, the one in your photo appears to be Catacanthus incarnatus, which has red, orange, yellow, and cream color morphs -
