Dryocampa kendalli
I just heard about this newly described (Sept. 2023) species from the Texas hill country. Closely related to D. rubicunda (Rosy Maple moth). Larvae feed on Red Buckeye, won't accept Maple. Flies in March & April.

I read that. Exciting and interesting. The research on older records was an impressive exercise in frustration and diligence. In fact, I have that publication right next to me; I've read it several times.
