obscured by clouds

Post by kevinkk »

So, here in Oregon, the annular eclipse was not visible. Did anyone get to see it in person?
I saw the last one in 2012, I'd never heard of an annular eclipse before that.
Maybe we'll head east in April for the total eclipse.
Amazing when you head out for some of the celestial events, you find
crowds, in 2012, when I drove back to my old grounds in Calif, the mountain
pullovers were all packed with cars, like it was for the meteor showers,
the middle of the night and the middle of nowhere, full of people looking up 8-)

The eclipse was quite visible in North TX. I had no idea it was going to happen today, and was wondering why things were suddenly getting so dim while out on a morning walk. Then, I noticed the strange shadows from the trees, and realized what was going on -

Not actually my own photos - just some examples I found online. I've added the sources above.

I watched it from a ranch in south TX that was in the path of totality. The "ring of fire" was awesome. We plugged an iPhone into a 6" reflector telescope and got some great sequential pictures. The phone isn't mine, so I can't show the pictures until the photographer sends them to me.
