Genus:Dysdaemonia / Saturniidae

Post by Trehopr1 »

This widespread genus numbering at present some
16 species is another bearing a camoflaged look with
small "windowed" spaces present on the forewings.

This species Dysdaemonia boreas is one of the most
commonly encountered and (in this case) is a bred
(female) example. It measures 4 in. wingtip to wingtip.
Dysdaemonia tend to have a rather "flattened" look
for hugging tree bark closely so as to (blend-in) in plain
view.
