Is this an earwig? I'm in San Francisco, CA, USA

I just found this bug in my bathroom sink in San Francisco at 11 PM. It's the only one I've seen so far.

It's a beetle, not an earwig, but I have no idea what type. Perhaps it is one of the species which eat grain/flour etc, or possibly a wood borer species. Probably one of the US members can give a more accurate identification.

It is likely that it came in on some dry food product, but it could also have emerged from wooden furniture (if the wood was not treated before being made into furniture).
