Hi everyone,
I have 3 automeris from 1981 or 1982, su data.
The color is very strange, might this be from the age? Or is it a species well know?
Thanks for ideas
Joachim
old automeris
Re: old automeris
Hello Joachim,
The Automeris (female) here has suffered some measure of "light" damage/exposure. The red and yellow hues of its hind wings is long gone and the forewings should be an overall dark brown.
I cannot tell you the species as (last I read) there are over 130 in the genus. Unfortunately, the colors overall have been altered.

The female Saturniid pictured is a member of the Saturniid genus Leucanella.
