Peru Saturnids
Peru Saturnids
I have checked a couple of the world Saturnid sites and can not find an id for this pair of Automeris.
This following moth puzzles me. It doesn't look like anything that would come from South America.
The person I got this from had 3 of these, all with the same data stating they were from Peru.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Peru Saturnids
I don’t know the Automeris but the lower one appears to be Copaxa medea from Peru. Used to have a gorgeous pair but unfortunately sold them!

Thank you Panacanthus.

Your two, somewhat worn, Saturniid specimens from Peru are not an Automeris species. They are in the Saturniid genus Leucanella. They are likely Leucanella contempta contempta.
