This butterfly is known as The Speckled Wood here in the U.K. Our subspecies is much darker than those found in southern Europe
First picture:Two pairs. Spring & summer broods. Self caught specimens of subspecies tircis from U.K.
Second & third pictures:One male & three females of the nominate subspecies from Spain.
