Colorful Rare Orthopterans
Re: Colorful Rare Orthopterans
I've noticed with several of the recent threads, the addition of the letters "ns" to th end of the group name, e.g. Orthoptera"ns". I've never seen this before, where did it come from?

Another Cosmoderus - "Fighter" cricket video I just accidentally stumbled upon - they would really make "kinda cute in their own little spikey armour" amusing pets...

I used to dry these with a freeze dryer to preserve the colors! Gorgeous little grasshoppers! Also dried the “toad” hoppers this way, among others!livingplanet3 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 10:14 pm The rainbow grasshopper (Dactylotum bicolor); I've seen these in southern Arizona a couple of times -

Bug Eyed Katydid vs. Candy Cane Katydid... another interesting video showing the deadly predatory habits of 2 spp. of carnivorous katydids viciously attacking one another.... who wins?
