tamilana has recently been recognised as a separate species.
see:
NAKAE, Makoto: Taxonomic revision of five species of the family Papilionidae (Lepidoptera), Gekkan-Mushi, No. 602, Apr. 2021.

NAKAE, M. (Adam Cotton as editorial supervisor): Papilionidae of the World, Roppon-Ashi Entomological Books, Tokyo, 2021.

by the way, arjuna and hermosanus are also treated as separate species in the latter work

That should be "(Yasusuke Nishiyama & Adam Cotton as editorial supervisors)". Of course I cannot read the Japanese text in this book, only the English.

DNA analysis shows that mainland Asian Papilio paris is sister to P. karna and the Sumatran and Javan 'paris' diverged before this pair, so must be a separate species, Papilio arjuna. Similarly the southern Taiwan taxon is a separate species, P. hermosanus, whereas nakaharai from northern Taiwan belongs to P. paris.

Yes, I forgot to add it to my list. I do not include equal signs in my original list, but add them here for clarity. I will add it above now.

Hello Adam,

Has P. paris tamilana been sampled in recent studies? I am curious if it has also been determined to be a separate species through mitochondrial chromosome analysis.

The status of tamilana based on mt DNA sequencing has been inconclusive so far. More work is needed with additional genes.
