How to upload picture ?

On this new forum software, all members can upload pictures in their posts.

How to insert a picture which is already hosted on the web :
- find your image on the web
- right click
- copy the image address
- in your post, click on the picture icon
- paste your image address inside the [img] tags
--> your image is in your post. Thank you for favoring this method which have no hosting costs for InsectNet.

How to upload a picture from your computer :
- click on "Attachments" below the message box
- click on "Add files" and select your file (maximum file size : 800kb)
- wait for the file status to be fully uploaded
- click on "Place inline" (for a better render)
- submit your post.
--> your image is in your post.

OK, so help me out here.

With a limit of 800kb, the options are:

(1) reduce photo size when taken. At least on my phone, that's universal, I can't do it for just one photo. iPhone 12. AFAIK.

(2) take photo, upload to host, and link from thread, which is the same as what we had before. No real change; the service I use is pretty good in that I can hit a button and get a link with the HTML already encapsulating the link, then just paste in. But as far as I can see, it really hasn't changed significantly, same amount of work.

So I see a bunch of new photos, what's everyone doing?

If you use a computer : right click on your picture to open with Paint, resize the picture 50%, save. 5 seconds

If you use a mobile :

I would imagine this has been covered somewhere, but I cannot find it - how many photos are we able to add to each post? I'm not able to add more than three. I am using the "drag and drop" method, and making sure the photos are not over 800kb. I've also tried "add files", but still cannot add more than three. I am using my home computer (not my cell phone) to create my posts.

Yes, 3 uploaded pictures per post maximum.

A good alternative is to go to this website:
https://postimages.org/
Click on 'Choose images' and browse to the photo you want to post on Insectnet.
After the image has loaded to the website copy the second link to your photo that is provided by the site.
Paste the photo link between [ img ]link[ /img ] (do not include the spaces inside the [ ]), and it will appear in your post.
You can include many photos in the same post.

Note that you do not need to register to use https://postimages.org/

Recently I have a trouble to attach pictures, every time I select a picture and press "choose"button the whole website is just shutting down, any advice what that could be? I tried to restart computer and log out/log in to insect net with no success.

Dear Paul, I don't face this issue, so the problem should come from your computer. Maybe try to clear your browser cache, it often helps with technical bugs.

I tried on my iPhone and I could attach picture.
It must be indeed some glitch on my laptop.
