A few years ago a college student (Junsuk Kim) moved into Louisiana who had more knowledge and interest in coleoptera than myself. Though I captured/collected numerous billions of beetles in Louisiana for over 60 years at this point, I only published on one species in 1991 titled: HARMONIA AXYRIDIS (PALLAS), THE THIRD SPECIES OF THE GENUS TO BE FOUND IN THE UNITED STATES (COLEOPTERA: COCCINELLIDAE). This species naturally occurs from Siberia to Japan, and numerous attempts to introduce H. axyridis across the breath of North America coast to coast occurred by various agencies going back for more than a century into the late 1800s. Despite these dozens of introductions, it was never subsequently confirmed in scientific literature to have been successfully established and taken a foothold anywhere in N.A. That is until I captured and pinned more than 1000 adults here at my home location 1988-1991 from specimens captured in our UV light traps. As it turned out our 1991 publication was the first publication confirming the establishment of H. axyridis in N.A. Since this publication the species has been reported by hundreds of other researchers across N.A. Search the web using the title, it is freely available there.
Over a number of years J. Kim agreed to co-author with me the first time reporting of some of the larger and flashier, well known coleoptera found in Louisiana. The half century long collection of Vernon & Charlotte Brou served as the primary basis of the records in the Kim & Brou publications.

Re: Lucanus, Strategus, Dynastes and Harmonia in Louisiana
That's an impressive compilation of specimens, especially those quite large L. elaphus males. Thanks also for the publication links.

Is that a row of Strategus aloeus (upper right) behind all the S. antaeus?
