Re: Stichophthalma fruhstorferi
Hey dave, I haven't seen or heard of any specimens of S. howqua. Do you have any to show us ?
That one is the second Stichopthalma species which I . ever seen illustrated.

Re: Stichophthalma fruhstorferi
I recently obtained some more specimens of S frustorferi from Viet Nam which look quite different form the ones originally posted here. Need to check the data of my older specimens to see if they are from same locality & if this is just seasonal variation. Believe from memory the original ones I posted here are smaller specimens too.
From what I have seen in general there seems to be quite a bit of taxonomic work still to be done on some of these "new" Stichophthalma species from Vietnam. Variation even within "species" seems to be considerable.
Photo of my new additions & a photo to compare the two forms.

Re: Stichophthalma fruhstorferi
Inayoshi-san told me that there is a long term study under way in Japan, but the main problem is that male genitalia are all the same, so there are no good characters to distinguish species using genitalia. That is probably the main reason why the taxonomy of this genus is so poorly understood.
