Charaxes fournierae

Post by Yorky »

Managed to acquire a few over the years, if I'd had to pay Internet prices it would have remained out of my reach.

Here is my very recent acquisition of this marvelous species.
Took a lot of patient years to be in the right place/time to
find and afford this marvelous cherished specimen.

The males are a big butterfly but the females are ginormous.

Don't think I have seen a female. As you say the male is large for a Charaxes so the female must be enormous.
You were definitely in the right place at the right time.!!

Both females came from the insect fair in England, they were both really reasonable. The one in better condition is absolutely huge, it blew everything else at the fair away. The A2 female was very cheap indeed and I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity of owning it despite the chips, the colour is very vibrant.
