Breeding: Colias hecla sulitelma

Post by wolf »

Bred in 2021(I'm doing a new breeding with a few larva this year, so i got a few enhanced pictures of the early stages). Female easily laid eggs on Astragalus alpinus, which is the main hostplant in Norway. Larva accept Astragalus glycyphyllos in captivity!
Lifecycle information: Total lifecycle from egg to imago was 5-6 weeks. 7 larva completed the full lifecycle the same year. The rest hibernated as L2/L3(which sadly all died during hibernation)
Eggs used 6-8 days to hatch
Larval stages lasted 26-28 days, molting 4 times
Pupal stages lasted 7-8 days
Difficulty rating based on % of individuals gotten through to imago(1=hard, 5=easy): 2/5
