Decided to repost some of my breeding projects that i've posted before over at collectors secret. This time Hipparchia hermione norvegica which i bred in 2020/2021. This is a species that is confined to rocky areas in the southern part of Norway. It is regarded as its own ssp. norvegica due to its isolated populations from the rest of Europe(correct me if im wrong). The larva feeds on Festuca ovina.
Lifecycle information:
Eggs used 10-12 days to hatch
Larva hibernated as penultimate instar(L4). It quickly molted into L5 after hibernation and stayed as L5 for almost 4 weeks before pupating, usually only eating during night time.
Pupal stages lasted 18-20 days.
Difficulty rating based on % of individuals gotten through to imago(1=hard, 5=easy): 3/5
