Embedding Youtube videos

Can we get the ability to embed youtube videos into posts? It's a shame we have to send people off site to view videos.

The same can be said for sound clips. Can there be a way to insert sound clips like we do images?

You can copy and paste youtube links just like links to imgur.

Hopefully someone (Olivier?) can explain the correct bbCode for audio and video links. To display an online photo (imgur or elsewhere that allows public sharing) the URL should have img in [] in front and /img in [] at the end of it. I don't know the correct formatting for audio or video links.

Not sure what you mean by formatting. It’s just copy and paste the URL. I randomly found a butterfly video and clicked on share, copied the URL, and pasted. The above link works.

A search suggests that the correct code is the word video in [] and /video in [] after the URL.

Here's a test using the link above:

Yes, it works but it opens a separate youtube page. Cabintom wants the video to be playable inside the forum page.

I guess Olivier can tell us how to do it.

Ah I see, thanks Adam, I didn’t understand what Tom was trying to accomplish.

Pasting URLs is fine, but it sends people off site and there's no preview (meaning the link could be to anything on youtube). I want to embed the video. As far as I can tell, Olivier needs to enable the BBcode for video embedding to work.

I have coded it, you can now embed videos : just copy/paste the url of the video in your post and the video will be embeded. You don't even need to use the [media] tags.

If embeded on youtube or another popular hub, yes.

If it is a file on your computer, you should be able to attach it as you attach pictures. (but it has to be below 800 KiB).
