When I try to attach a photo to my post, it tells me it's too large even though it's smaller than the max allowable file size. What's the problem?

I don't know if the following is applicable to this particular instance, but -

If you are using an operating system that has automatic file compression turned on, that could possibly be the reason for the issue encountered in attempting to attach the file, as the compression would make the file's size look smaller than it actually is.
