Sometimes, I forget that some of my smaller leps
which I've encountered over the years (from
old collections); were not only chosen for beauty
but, for location.
This faintly purple long-tailed number hails from
North India and was collected in 1935. It's label
also has a name of Myrina acre but, I do not know
if this is still a valid name.
I'm happy I was wise to pick it up years ago not
realising at the time that things would come to
be very difficult to get from India as well as a host
of other places....
Long-tailed lycaenid (North India)
Re: Long-tailed lycaenid (North India)
Dear Trehopr1
Thank you for sharing an interesting specimen obtained as old as 1935! At that time, India was a part of British.
This lycaenid is a male of Ticherra acte, Blue Imperial. This species is not common at lowland/montane forest in India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos or China.
I am interested in the butterfly fauna of India. If you have other specimens from old collection, please do share their images with me.
Thanks,
Mokky
