Hello and welcome to the updated/revised Insect net forum.
I am also one of the global moderators here and I do look forward
to seeing new members join-up, engaging discussions, lots of new
photo's, and a general passion for all things INSECT.

I have been something of a fixture (on both former forums) since 2013.
I have contributed many threads and/or discussions to both forums over
these years and have very much enjoyed everyone's participation in all
of them.

I have been a passionate collector/enthusiast of insects since my interest
was first "sparked" at the age of 5. It has been a very fulfilling aspect of my
life. Along the way I have met like minded individuals who have seen BEAUTY
in insects (much as I have). Some have been fascinating folks to come to know
whilst others have been truly scholarly in their endeavors.

Though lepidoptera have always been my first love in insects a fair number of
various insect families across a broad spectrum of insect orders have also
captivated my lifelong interest.

I also see myself as something of a "small game" hunter and have always been
intrigued and engaged at the prospect of collecting whenever possible day/night.

So, please join us, ask questions, disseminate knowledge, and be a part of our
wonderful forum family !

Hello All,

Jhyatt here, from the mountains of eastern Tennessee. I was a member of the old forums for many years, and look forward to keeping up with the new version. I even have hopes of posting the occasional photo now! I collect butterflies generally (worldwide except Africa) and skippers (US only), and moths from the coast and sea islands of Georgia. Lycaenids and palearctic butterflies are special interests of mine. I love to do trades and still make occasional forays into the field, as the old gimpy knees and shoulder permit.

Hello everyone, My former member name was bugboys3, a moniker that my wife gave to me and my 2 boys when they were much younger. She would call us her 3 bug boys when we would go out collecting for their 4H collections. I have been an Insectnet member since the days Clark was running the site. I am looking forward to the new forum.

Hi everybody,

my name is Christof and I'm originally from Munich in Germany. Over the last 30 years I have been living and working in various countries all over the world. And now I have finally settled with my family close to Toulouse in the southwest of France.

I have been an Insectnet member for many years. My main interests are palearctic lepidoptera and worldwide parnassius and colias.

Hi everyone. I figured I should join here at some point.

I'm from Fresno, CA and have been collecting for 2 years but have been studying insects for much longer. I'll be taking entomology to the professional level as my major at UC, Davis next year.

Since my collection is pretty small, I net pretty much every species I can (within the boundaries of the law, of course). Mainly, I enjoy collecting and rearing Papilionidae and Saturniidae native to California. Yesterday I finally managed a few Papilio multicaudata pairings, along with a hybrid pairing with a wild P. rutulus, so I'm interested to see how that will turn out.

Favorite species: Parnassius clodius, Parnassius eversmanni, Papilio rutulus, Battus philenor, Baronia brevicornis.
Least favorite species: Anything heliconius.

Cheers!

(Also, I can't seem to upload a decent photo to my profile under the current size limits.)

As avatar pictures are present on all pages in numbers, it is important to have low def pictures, otherwise pages will be long to load.
But I am sure you will find a way to find a good avatar picture, like many of us have already done.
You can reduce the size of the picture you want to use using Paint, it takes 1 minute.

Hello, everyone. My name is Drew and I have been a member here for many years, going back to the days of Clark. I read the forums every day but almost never post, so I very much thank all who contribute and help to make this site possible.

I am a carabid beetle collector from Mississippi, USA. I have been actively working with carabids for over 40 years and maintain a world-wide collection.

Thank you for opening new forum. I am mokky from Japan. I have been fascinated by butterflies and have been chasing them for more than 40 years. My main interest is butterflies of the Himalayas. Now here in Japan, butterfly enthusiasts (both professional and amateur) are becoming much fewer than ever. I would like to communicate with overseas colleagues. Please feel free to contact.

I'm trying to upload a picture from my computer to use as an avatar. It is 558 KB. The instructions say to click on Attachments below the message box. I see no such link. What am I doing wrong?
