When we collected this butterfly, we were shocked by its perfect mimicry of dead leaves! Nature is so amazing, how does this mechanism work? How did you transcribe it so vividly? Please help me, thanks.

Kallima knyvetti, I believe?

It looks like that species to me too.

It occurs on Doi Inthanon (the highest mountain in Thailand, 2595m) here in Chiang Mai, at about 1700m.

Kallima knyvetti is still missing from my collection. That looks to be a great specimen.
I recently received two spectacular Kallima from Viet Nam. Believe they are forms of K inachus alboinachus.
The oriental leaf butterflies truly are "marvels"

Its origin is Tibet, China. I collected several individuals.

I wasn't doubting you, if you say something is, then it is! I just never saw one, no inference that I was doubting you. I was all over that area, at all elevations, and sure would have liked to find one.

Kallima knyvetti and Kallima inachus were collected from the same place.

Presumably this was South Tibet, maybe Motuo/Beibeng area?
