Strategus mormon
Strategus mormon
Found this guy last night at a gas station in east TX. It's only the 3rd specimen of this species I've ever collected, and the first male. Horns on S. mormon are minimal in comparison to other Strategus.

Re: Strategus mormon
Always cool to see a low-catch specimen. And yes, Coleoptera as well.
Re: Strategus mormon
We published a review of the genus Strategus in Louisiana in 2018, mostly using the adults my wife and I captured over the past 55 years of non-stop collecting. Here is the link to a free access to that pdf: https://www.academia.edu/37938943/THE_G ... _LOUISIANA

Vernon, thanks for the pdf. Good info. Impressive horns on the antaeus.
