Re: "Reptile Heaven" and "WildinsectUSA" = SCAM

Be careful, I had to remove another of these accounts in the Classifieds (Safman Rosicky). I see they have "improved" their scam listing now some very rare species at high price (but affordable for the rarity) : https://reptileheaven.com/product/agrias-phalcidon-fournierae/ The real value ...

Re: Enough already, with the fake aberrations

Trehopr1 < the "strange" Agrias you see on the market are not aberrations or man-made aberration. They are man-made hybrids from the Peruvian Agrias farms. I highly recommend the new book of Philippe Floquet who illustrates all Agrias natural forms and all known Agrias hybrids : https://ma...

Re: Enough already, with the fake aberrations

I see your point. But as soon as they are clearly advertised as "man-made", I can't see how you could stop them. If some collectors are happy to buy them, and sellers happy to raise specimen to produce their aberrations, it is hard to condemn them. Many aberration collectors feel like you....

Yes but the whole idea is to see my forest growing year after year so it has to be close from home.

Re: Seed-Planting Drones

Yes, "biofuel" is a disaster for environment. Nothing "bio" at all. About "seed-planting drone", it already exists in nature, it is called "a bird" :-) On of my dreams is to buy a damaged forest and to let it regrow naturally. I am 41, I should do it now to se...

Re: Japan April/May 2024

Luc Manil from the French Lepidopterist Association (ALF) was there in last April/May and I know he has been happy with his entomological trip.
You can ask him some tips.
I send you his email in PM

Welcome here !
Have you tried ammonia injection, check this forum topic : viewtopic.php?p=6745#p6745

This is what I use for hard-to-relax butterflies like Agrias.

"Reptile Heaven" and "WildinsectUSA" = SCAM

The 2 accounts "Reptile Heaven" and "WildinsectUSA" , even if they have real websites, are scams . I have found some of their posts in the Classifieds "odd" despite having serious websites. After some search online, it confirms it is a scam. Some people complains about ...

I've dreamt several times of catching a new unknown species, most of the time big Papilio and Delias. :)

Re: Female Morpho marcus/eugenia from French Guyana

Jean-Marc is one of the best guide to go to FG, he knows the place so well ! I discovered French Guiana thanks to him too. I hope you had great time there. Catching a female Morpho in FG is a real feat ! During my trip in FG with Jean-Marc in 2021, I saw only one female for about 1000 male, it was a...

Re: ICZN rules for nom. nov.

Thank you Bob and Adam. If I understand correctly, it's the additional letter "e" (between maria and mariae ) that prevents Henk from making this change. I will correct the Delias website. Should we publish that correction in a future publication or is it non necessary ? I can easily add t...

Re: The future of the hobby

The future of our hobby is obviously at risk for various reasons, as well explained by Chuck in this topic. This said, it is our collective mission to make it last as long as possible, to make it fun as long as possible, to make it scientifically useful as long as possible. We are a small but great ...

ICZN rules for nom. nov.

In 1996, my late friend Henk van Mastrigt renamed Delias campbelli maria Toxopeus, 1937, in Delias campbelli cyclops to avoid confusion with Delias mariae Joicey & Talbot, 1916. Confusion did happen as Roepke placed Delias mariae as a ssp. of Delias campbelli . So it was a good idea to rename De...

Re: NY Man charged with smuggling birdwings

Not sure to fully agree with you on that Chuck. Yes, the CITES protection of common birdwings is ridiculous. This said, we are not talking of one collector here caught with one birdwing in his collection... We are talking of a SELLER who knows the law and decides to not respect it : - putting at ris...

What a ridiculous behavior from Charles Limmer.
This kind of behaviors give a very bad image to all insect collectors even those who respect the rules.

1. There is also a forest of "ComeFroide" in Occitanie : https://www.commune-mairie.fr/foret/foret-domaniale-de-comefroide-picaussel-F15391Y/ 2. agree with Manfred 3. When you see a number like "26" in a French label, it must be a French departement. In this case, it is "Drô...
